Serap Konde: The drug shortage will be eliminated in 10 days

Serap Konde, Director of Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy Department, stated that the shortage of drugs in the country was caused by the tender, and emphasized that the deficiencies would be completed within a week, 10 days at the latest.

Serap Konde, Director of Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy Department, made a statement to BRT regarding the drug shortage experienced, and noted that with the completion of the annual tender, drugs began to arrive in the country and they received around 3 trucks of drugs every day.
Pointing out that drug shortages are due to delays caused by the tender, Konde continued as follows:
“After the end of the tender, our warehouse, where 1 out of 4 of the tenders remained at the signing stage, gave up the tender. That's why we had to move on to the second offers. It took a while for them to be evaluated and given back to other warehouses. However, other warehouses started to bring their goods to us after signing the drugs that were left to them from the first day. You will appreciate that this is an annual tender and we distribute to the whole island. That's why there is so much product coming in. It seems that there is still a shortage of medicine, but unfortunately, because the products are too much, lots are coming. It will be completed in 10 days or a week at the latest.”
“WE ARE TRYING TO RESOLVE THE DEFICIENCIES BY MAKE MARKET PURCHASE WHEN THERE ARE MISSING”
Explaining that the problem is eliminated as the drugs reach their hands, Konde said, "When the shortage of drugs is due to the tender, we try to eliminate these deficiencies by making market purchases as much as we can."
