December 2022 average temperature data of the General Directorate of Meteorology has been announced. In the statement, it was stated that the average temperature in December for the 1991-2020 period was 4.8 degrees Celsius.
It was emphasized in the statement that "The average of December 2022 increased by 3.2 degrees Celsius and reached 8 degrees Celsius," which is the highest of the 52-year December averages.
On the other hand, it was reminded that the highest average among December was experienced in 2010 with 7.8 degrees Celsius in the second month of December.
Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum also made a statement on his Twitter account, "We have experienced the hottest December month in the last 52 years. Rainfall has decreased significantly. This picture does not give hope. We always say; our resources are not unlimited. We work with this awareness and take our steps. "We must all do our part," he said.

The General Directorate of Meteorology evaluated the temperatures of December 2022 at the regional level according to the 1991-2020 periods.
As a result of the comparison; While the Marmara Region average was 7.0 degrees Celsius, the average temperature in December 2022 was measured as 10.3 degrees Celsius. While the Aegean Region average was 7.9 degrees Celsius, the average temperature in December 2022 was measured as 10.8 degrees Celsius.
While the average of the Mediterranean Region was 9.1 degrees Celsius, it increased to 11.8 degrees Celsius, and the average of the Central Anatolia Region increased from 1.4 degrees Celsius to 4.6 degrees Celsius.
While the average temperature in the Black Sea Region was 4.8 degrees Celsius, it was 7.8 degrees Celsius, while the average temperature in the Eastern Anatolia Region was 1.5 degrees Celsius, the average temperature in December 2022 was determined as 2.4 degrees Celsius.
In the Southeastern Anatolia Region, the situation did not change, the average temperature was 6.4 degrees Celsius, while the average temperature in December 2022 was 9.2 degrees Celsius.
