The main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) marched to the Parliament and supported the action of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Workers Union (El-Sen) against the discussion of the “Public Procurement (Amendment) Bill” in the General Assembly of the Parliament.

CTP representatives and members gathered in Kuğulu Park and marched to the Parliament against the "Public Procurement (Amendment) Draft Law", which he stated was prepared to "transfer the country's energy needs to a company without a tender and with a 15-year contract".

In addition to the CTP, the Communal Democracy Party (TDP), the New Cyprus Party (YKP), the Cyprus Socialist Party (KSP) and some representatives of trade unions and non-governmental organizations also participated in the march.

With the protesters coming to the Assembly, CTP Chairman Tufan Erhürman, Secretary General Asım Akansoy and CTP deputies also came to the protesters and expressed their support.

Here, Cyprus Turkish Trade Unions Federation (Türk-Sen) President Arslan Bıçaklı and CTP Chairman Tufan Erhürman made statements to the press.

BIÇAKLI: “NO INVESTMENT HAS BEEN MADE IN KIB-TEK FOR YEARS, THE INSTITUTION WAS BROUGHT TO THIS POINT consciously and willingly”

Indicating that they have been saying for years that Kıb-Tek should be invested in order not to surrender to Aksa, and that they have been taking action for years to protect the property of the society, Bıçaklı stated that the government signed a protocol with them in 2019, and that he has documents.

Defending that “Kıb-Tek has not been invested for years and that the institution has been brought to this point knowingly and willingly”, Bıçaklı said to one of the parliamentarians, “We have come to this point now, do we have any other choice but to give it to Aksa?” Saying that he made his statement, he criticized by saying, "Whose goods are you going to sell to whom?"

“WHAT IS YOUR HURRY, YOU HAVE FOUR MORE YEARS AHEAD”

Stating that the deputies who supported the government in the parliament said 'the people gave us authority, we will rule like this', Bıçaklı said, “The people gave you the authority to rule this country in accordance with the oath you made, the people did not give you the authority to sell this country... What is your hurry, you have four more years ahead of you. there is,” he said. Bicakli said, “As a society, they are ready to take ownership by investing in the institutions of the country.”

Addressing the Kıb-Tek administration and government representatives, "Stop lying and cheating", Bıçaklı said, “Kıb-Tek employee El-Sen members, who were in action, fixed all the faults of this country in 2 hours last night and provided energy to the whole island. But you come out and say, 'El-Sen members sabotaged'. Here I claim that; The saboteur is Kıb-Tek's General Manager and management. Let the police go and intervene," he said.

ERHÜRMAN: "THEY DID NOT PUT 'STONE ON STONE' AT KIB-TEK"

CTP Chairman Tufan Erhürman, who took the floor after Bıçaklı, said, “We have a deputy friend inside the podium. Apart from that, there are those who did not invest a penny in KIB-TEK in the history of this country, and those who did not put one stone on another in KIB-TEK."

Pointing to the "government", Erhürman said, "There are those inside, who signed a protocol with El-Sen in 2019 and promised 'We will buy a power plant in this country,' and denounced each other saying, 'What should we do, those before us didn't buy it' after four years? used.

Pointing to Prime Minister Üstel's speech in the Parliament this morning, Erhürman said: there is,” he said.

"INSIDE, THERE ARE 'SHORTLY, THOSE GOING'..."

Erhürman stated that "With the report of the Court of Accounts, KIB-TEK was harmed by the love of buying fuel without a tender." Emphasizing that the people were forced to buy electricity from the south as a result of this, Erhürman said, “Today, they held an extraordinary Assembly meeting regarding the draft law, which was not even urgent. Mr. Üstel agreed, there is one year until the contract expires, and he has the right to extend it for three years. Therefore, within four years, investment can be planned and energy policy can be made with the people of this country. However, inside there are those who do not believe in this people, who sit on the couch but do not claim to rule this country. Inside; There are those who say 'it's almost time, it's going'," he said.

“AGAIN, THEY ATTENDED TO ANNOUNCING EVERYONE EXCEPT THEM 'ROMANTIC'”

Arguing that the government is in a 'panic' mood, Erhürman said, "When these friends cannot find a reasonable justification for what they want to do, they declare everyone else as 'Greek people' except themselves."

Erhürman, who said, "The honorable man sitting in the presidency of the parliament threatened the shorthands from the parliamentary rostrum," said that they would "not let these threats go" and that they would "continue this struggle both inside and outside".

Erhürman said, “This struggle is the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people to stand on their feet, to govern themselves, to honor and self-confidence. This struggle is the struggle for the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people.”
