The minimum wage raise affects millions of employees in Turkey and was announced following discussions between the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, Turkish Confederation of Employers' Unions (TISK) President Ozgur Burak Akkol, and Turkish Confederation of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TURK-İŞ) President Ergun Atalay.

Minister Işıkhan expressed gratitude towards both TISK and TURK-İŞ for their constructive approach during the wage discussions. The minister noted that the new minimum wage, which will take effect in the second half of 2023, is a result of mutual settlements between the workers' and employers' unions. The minister explained that the decision to increase the minimum wage by 34% is crucial in President Erdogan's commitment to help citizens avoid the consequences of inflation.
