Süleyman Ergüçlü, one of the country's doyen journalists, died at the age of 69.

Journalist and writer Süleyman Ergüçlü died this morning at his home.

His wife Neşe Ergüçlü announced the news of his death on her social media account, "My husband Süleyman Ergüçlü passed away this morning at our home. My pain, our pain is endless. Our condolences to all of us." She shared with the expressions.

Ergüçlü, one of the names that left a mark on the Turkish Cypriot press, left behind many news, interviews, columns, articles and books.

Ergüçlü, who passed away at the age of 69, was known for his passion for Nicosia, where he was born and raised, as well as his identity as a journalist and writer.

Ergüçlü described himself as "A lover of Cyprus... He cannot live without smelling the scent of Nicosia and Cyprus...".

With the death of Ergüçlü, Nicosia was deprived of one more symbolic name identified with him.  

The funeral of Süleyman Ergüçlü will be buried in Nicosia Cemetery following the noon prayer tomorrow.
