Cevdet Yılmaz: Turkey's new century will also be the century of TRNC

Vice President of the Republic of Turkey Cevdet Yılmaz and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel made a press statement.

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said, “Dear friends, first of all, I would like to thank our Prime Minister and his delegation for this nice and warm welcome. "First of all, I would like to convey to you the greetings and affection of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan," he said.

Yılmaz said, "We send many greetings to our President, who expresses his love and closeness to Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriots at every opportunity." He first made a speech about the flood disaster in Libya.

Yılmaz said, “There was a major flood disaster in Libya, our blue homeland neighbor, and thousands of people died. There are losses. I pray God's mercy on those who died. I wish patience to those left behind. "Just yesterday, we showed that we stand by the brotherly Libyan people by taking all kinds of precautions, and all measures were taken to send our aid planes there," he said.

Drawing attention to the earthquake in Morocco, Yılmaz said, “We showed the same attitude there too. Same thing in Libya. As a country experiencing disasters, we stand by our friendly and sister countries. We provide all kinds of support and will continue to do so. "I once again wish the brotherly Libyan people to get well soon," he said.

Pointing out that today is September 12, the anniversary of the military coup, Yılmaz emphasized that "they condemn all kinds of coups" and stated that such actions take countries back and harm democracy.

“NECESSARY STEPS WILL BE TAKEN TO INCREASE TRNC'S RELATIONS WITH MEMBER STATES”

Expressing that they will continue to move forward on the path of democracy and development, Yılmaz said that in the TRNC they visited today, they will have bilateral meetings with the President, the Prime Minister and others, and that he will attend the meeting of the Organization of Turkic States, and that the necessary steps will be taken to increase the interaction between the TRNC and its member states.

Yılmaz said, “Our esteemed Prime Minister, of course, we will have meetings with Mr. Ünal. We may have other bilateral meetings. "There is an important meeting of the Turkish States Organization again today," he said, adding that they would attend the meeting.

Underlining that increasing the contact, relationship and interaction between the Turkish world and the Turkish Cypriots in Cyprus is something they value very much, Yılmaz said, “Therefore, I hope that such meetings will lead to this. "We will make more comprehensive evaluations there soon," he said.

Underlining that they also know that agriculture is very important, Yılmaz stated that climate change, wars, and infectious diseases such as Covid have revealed how strategic the issue of food and agriculture has been in recent years.

“REACHING THE PROFICIENCY LEVEL IN AGRICULTURE IS VERY VALUABLE”

"There are times when you may not be able to meet your needs even if you have money, so reaching a certain level of competence in agriculture is very valuable and strategic," said Yılmaz, emphasizing that the water coming from the homeland is very important not only for drinking water but also for irrigation.

Pointing out that they will have a critical meeting regarding the irrigation plan studies with Prime Minister Ünal Üstel tomorrow, Yılmaz said, “We will carry out an important study with the natural participation of our Minister of Agriculture. "Our aim here is to increase the agricultural productivity and production of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus," he said.

Yılmaz continued his speech as follows:

“On the one hand, while increasing the income of the farmers and the people, ensuring that the people are fed and have access to food under more favorable conditions, on the other hand, to increase the food sufficiency and agricultural sufficiency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to higher levels. We are here to carry out important work on this issue.”

“ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL COOPERATION HAS VARIOUS TITLES”

Vice President Yılmaz also noted that the Economic and Financial Cooperation has various headings and stated that they have many projects.

“However, today we are in a new terminal building. I would also like to express my joy and happiness. "Of course, I would like to express my gratitude to the Prime Minister and his entire team," said Yılmaz, and also thanked those who worked hard in the bureaucracy and the technical team both on the Turkish side and the TRNC side.

Stating that a giant work has been brought to the TRNC, Yılmaz said, “It is truly a giant work, I felt and saw it once again when I just entered. "This place is like a showcase of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus," he said.

“THE FIRST COMING PEOPLE CREATE AN IMAGE AGAINST TRNC IN ERCAN”

Yılmaz said that the first people who came here created their image of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and stated that those who left felt the same way.

“Therefore, I am very happy that this work, which was created with an investment of 100 million euros, has been put into service,” said Yılmaz, T.R. He also expressed his gratitude to President Erdoğan.

“ERDOĞAN SHOWED VERY DETERMINATION”

Stating that Erdoğan showed great determination and said, "I will land at the airport on this date," Yılmaz said, "Thankfully, we achieved this with the Prime Minister and all our teams working day and night."

Yılmaz specifically stated that this success is a harbinger of other successes and noted that difficulties can be overcome if we strive and work hard.

Stating that nothing is without problems, Yılmaz said, “There is a saying that there is no rose garden without thorns. There is no issue without problems. The important thing is to look at it in a solution-oriented way. It is to solve the problems in a way, take them off the table one by one, and develop projects for the benefit of the public. "We will continue our way with this understanding," he said.

“WE WILL GIVE PRIORITY TO PROJECTS THAT ARE AT THE COMPLETION PHASE”

Stating that they will continue on their way with the understanding of bringing the projects to the public as soon as possible by prioritizing the projects, especially giving greater importance and priority to those that have reached the completion stage, Yılmaz said, “By the way, we signed a memorandum of understanding with the Prime Minister regarding a very critical and very important project. And that is the cable... It will be able to transfer energy both from Turkey to TRNC and from TRNC to Turkey, and it will really make a serious contribution to the security of energy supply,” he said.

Yılmaz continued his speech as follows:

“We have started work on a huge work that will provide better quality, more cost-effective energy for both countries. Of course, previous feasibility studies will be done. Various technical infrastructure works will be carried out. Then, hopefully, we will see together that its construction has started. Dear friends, all these projects are signs of the brotherhood, friendship and closeness of TRNC and Turkey.”

Stating that the TRNC and the Republic of Turkey are inseparable, Cevdet Yılmaz said, “Our destiny is the same, our history is the same. Therefore, I wholeheartedly agree with the emphasis made by the Prime Minister. "Our relationship is not a relationship based on calculations or books," he said.

“THE BOND BETWEEN TRNC AND TC IS A BOND OF THE HEART”

Stating that the relationship between the TRNC and the Republic of Turkey was formed by the bond of love, Yılmaz underlined that no one could afford to divide this relationship.

“Hopefully, we will all walk towards a much better future together. We always say it. We have entered the Türkiye century. Yılmaz also said, "We are in the centenary of our Republic" and underlined that the next century is called "Turkey's centenary".
