In its article titled "UN Secretary-General Wants to Learn What He Thinks," Fileleftheros newspaper emphasized the significance of Christodoulides's meeting with Guterres, noting that following the cancellation of the Guterres-Erdoğan meeting, the Greek Cypriot side is keen to find out what the next steps in the Cyprus problem will be.

The newspaper also pointed out that Christodoulides has two main objectives for the meeting. Firstly, he intends to inform Guterres verbally that he is ready to meet with the Turkish Cypriot leader and discuss his intentions and positions regarding the Cyprus problem. Secondly, he seeks to learn the intentions of the UN Secretary-General and the UN for the progress of efforts on the Cyprus problem.

The newspaper speculated that the Turkish side may not be interested in restarting Cyprus negotiations, and it suggested that President Erdoğan's decision not to meet with the UN Secretary-General may be related to a general objection by the Turkish side to any moves concerning the Cyprus problem.

Fileleftheros reported that diplomatic efforts in New York have indicated pressure on the Turkish side to appoint a representative for Cyprus. It claimed that all permanent members of the UN Security Council support this appointment.

The newspaper also mentioned that, according to information it obtained, China, a permanent member of the Security Council, conveyed a message to Guterres through the Cypriot President that it believes a representative should be appointed for the Cyprus problem. It stated that during a bilateral meeting at the Chinese Permanent Mission to the UN, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng discussed developments in the Cyprus problem, bilateral relations, international relations, and EU-China relations with Christodoulides.

Furthermore, the newspaper reported that Russia also supports the appointment of a representative for the Cyprus problem, which is evident from the positions it has taken during the 78th UN General Assembly meeting on the Cyprus issue. Russia believes that appointing a representative or advisor to the UN Secretary-General for the Cyprus problem would contribute to the resumption of a full negotiation process.

Finally, the newspaper noted that the Turkish side was greatly discomforted by President Nikos Christodoulides's speech at the UN General Assembly.
