The verdict was delivered by a panel of judges consisting of Chairwoman Füsun Cemaller, Senior Judge Vedia Berkut Barkın, and Judge Tutku Candaş at the Nicosia High Criminal Court. Judge Candaş read out the court's decision, stating that the defendant attempted to process paperwork with the fraudulent car insurance bearing the Capital Bank emblem for the EKP 933-plated vehicle he was driving when he entered the Metehan Border Crossing in Nicosia around 4:00 PM on August 30, 2023.

Candaş explained that the defendant acted with the intent to deceive the official officer and was caught red-handed at the border crossing. During the investigation, it was revealed that the defendant held a valid insurance policy covering the period from June 6 to September 9, 2023. However, he created a fake insurance policy, using the serial numbers from the valid document, indicating that it was valid until June 6, 2024, even though he possessed the original document.

According to Candaş, the defendant claimed that he committed this act to test the customs officers. Judge Candaş emphasized the seriousness of the crimes committed, as car insurance policies are crucial for assessing the risk of potential traffic accidents.

Taking into account the defendant's lack of a criminal record and the fact that he had been awaiting trial while in custody since August 31, 2023, the court sentenced him to two months in prison.
