Weekly Traffic Report: 67 Traffic Accidents, 19 Injured, 1 Fatality
During the past week, a total of 67 traffic accidents occurred, resulting in 1 fatality and 19 injuries. The combined property damage from these accidents amounted to 245,168 TL.
According to the weekly traffic report covering the dates from October 23 to October 29, provided by the General Directorate of Police, these accidents were distributed as follows: 27 in Lefkoşa, 6 in Gazimağusa, 23 in Girne, 5 in Güzelyurt, and 6 in İskele. The total property damage from these accidents amounted to 245,168 TL.
Among these accidents, 21 were attributed to speeding, 16 to reckless driving, 12 to failure to stop at intersections, 10 to tailgating, and 8 to other contributing factors.
In the same period, a total of 13,510 vehicle drivers were inspected, and 2,883 drivers found to have committed offenses were reported for legal action.
The distribution of 303 vehicles being confiscated for traffic offenses is as follows:
- Speeding: 739
- Dangerous driving: 15
- Reckless driving: 33
- Operating unregistered vehicles: 184
- Driving without a license: 19
- Driving under the influence of alcohol: 98
- Using a mobile phone while driving: 302
