Frank Leonel Wouobeng Dongho from Cameroon and Saddam Hussain from Pakistan were arrested on charges of aiding and abetting in connection with the murder of Ayça Alav, the owner of Alav Currency in Nicosia. Suspects, who were found to have assisted the suspects in escaping from the crime scene, will remain in custody for 3 days.

Two suspects of Ayça Alav's murder were taken to Nicosia District Court yesterday.
Assistant Inspector Ömer Faruk Şengil provided details about the incident during the court appearance. The police stated that the suspects were arrested in connection with premeditated murder and robbery.
According to the police, the two suspects from Cameroon and Pakistan tied Ayça Alav's hands from behind with an antenna cable, wrapped her with duct tape, plugged her mouth with a towel, and caused her death at her business called Hit Bit in Vakıf Street, Surlariçi, Nicosia, on December 22, 2023, around 14:47. The police also revealed that the suspects later went to Alav Currency nearby, stole an undetermined amount of foreign currency and TL, and Ayça Alav's bag containing money and a mobile phone.
The police stated that when Ayça Alav did not pick up her daughter after school hours, a relative who was worried reported the situation to the police. Following the investigation, the police found Ayça Alav's body at Hit Bit around 21:00 and initiated the investigation.
After identifying who the murderers were, the police examined surveillance camera footage and determined that Saddam Hussein came to pick up the suspects with his car. The police explained that Saddam Hussein took the suspects to Dongho's house, from there to a location near the border, and helped them escape to South Cyprus. During their escape, the suspects threw Ayça Alav's mobile phone into an empty box in the parking lot of a market along the way. The police officer stated that the investigation is ongoing, and he requested that the suspects remain in custody for 3 days.
Judge Hazal Hacımulla ordered the suspects to remain in custody for 3 days.
