In a statement on his X social media account, Ghebreyesus reported receiving "disturbing" reports regarding the escalating conflicts near the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Hospital in Gaza and the ongoing evacuation orders.

According to the hospital director, more than 600 patients, mostly healthcare workers, had to evacuate the hospital, and Ghebreyesus stated that their whereabouts were unknown.

Ghebreyesus mentioned that WHO and United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) officials visited the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Hospital yesterday, witnessing the arrival of many injured individuals in need of urgent treatment.

Highlighting the danger and the cancellation of another WHO mission in northern Gaza due to lack of permissions, Ghebreyesus emphasized that no hospital in northern Gaza was fully operational and only "a handful" of health facilities were operational throughout Gaza.

"WHO STAFF WITNESSED NAUSEATING SCENES"

Ghebreyesus stated, "WHO staff witnessed nauseating scenes at Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Hospital, where people of all ages were treated on blood-soaked floors and chaotic corridors."

Emphasizing the need for an end to the massacre in Gaza, Ghebreyesus reported that only five doctors remained in the hospital due to evacuation orders and security deficiencies.

Ghebreyesus highlighted that in recent weeks, the hospital received 14 deaths and 48 injuries daily, but in the past few days, the numbers rose to dozens of deaths and more than 120 injuries.

Pointing out the hospital's significance as the most crucial healthcare institution in the central region of Gaza, Ghebreyesus called for its protection, stating that harming the functionality of the hospital would be a "moral and medical disgrace."
