Hasipoğlu: Defendants in the İsias Case Played the Three Monkeys
Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, the General Secretary of the National Unity Party (UBP) and a lawyer, who was following the İsias case in Adıyaman, stated during the trial that 11 defendants were blaming each other, playing the three monkeys. Hasipoğlu emphasized the special importance given to the İsias case by the Republic of Turkey.
Speaking on the 'Sabah Postası' program on Kıbrıs Postası TV, Hasipoğlu, the Chairman of the Temporary and Special Committee Established for Monitoring the Legal and Judicial Process Related to Earthquakes in the Republic of Turkey, shared his views on the developments in the İsias case that took place at the 3rd Heavy Penal Court in Adıyaman last week.
Hasipoğlu stated that the İsias case is a matter for the Turkish Cypriot people, saying, "We were all in Adıyaman, both the government and the opposition. We will continue to be there in the next stages."
"DEFENDANTS IN THE İSİAS CASE PLAYED THE THREE MONKEYS"
Hasipoğlu mentioned that they heard false statements from the defendants on the first day of the trial and that on the second day, the families of the Şampiyon Melekler (Champion Angels) spoke the truth. He said, "All 11 defendants blamed each other. It was as if each one played the three monkeys."
Emphasizing that it was not negligence but an attempted intentional murder, Hasipoğlu stated, "If you are building an illegal floor and it is not clear how you obtained the construction permit, you cannot say 'I did not foresee the result.'"
Hasipoğlu, pointing out that authorities who granted the permit should also intervene in this case at a certain stage, said, "I think the administrative authorities granting the permit should be held accountable in a separate case or within this case."
"TURKISH REPUBLIC SHOWS SPECIAL IMPORTANCE TO THE İSİAS CASE"
Hasipoğlu drew attention to the special importance given to the İsias case by the Republic of Turkey, saying, "It is obvious that there will be a fast trial. The important thing is to reach a correct and fair decision. The heaviest penalties should be given."
Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people are following the İsias case seriously, Hasipoğlu said, "This is not only the issue of Cyprus but also the issue of Turkey. Because we want the decision to set a precedent."
UBP General Secretary Hasipoğlu also commented on the arrest of lawyer Akan Kürşat in Italy on charges of facilitating the sale of Greek Cypriot properties.
"ACCORDING TO THE CLAIM OF THE GREEK SIDE, IT IS NOT JUST A LEGAL ISSUE"
Hasipoğlu claimed that even during the negotiation process, the Greek Cypriot Administration took steps that hindered the development of the TRNC and said, "From the point of view of the claim put forward by the Greek side, this is not just a legal issue."
Interpreting the arrest of lawyer Akan Kürşat as a 'specific issue,' Hasipoğlu stated, "No legal document other than the political statements of the Greek side was sent to the Italian authorities."
"I do not think the Greek side is sincere and innocent. They immediately turned the arrest of Akan Kürşat into a political show," said Hasipoğlu, adding that a critical meeting was held at the Presidency on the issue, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey was also involved.
