South Cyprus Welcomed 3,845,000 Tourists in 2023
Costas Kumis, the Tourism Secretary of South Cyprus, announced that 3,845,000 tourists visited the Greek Cypriot sector in 2023. According to Haravgi newspaper, based on data published by the Statistical Service, the newspaper reported that 3,201,000 tourists visited South Cyprus in 2022, and this figure increased by 20.1% to 3,845,000 tourists in 2023.
The newspaper compared the number of tourists visiting South Cyprus in 2023 to the record-breaking year of 2019 when a large number of tourists visited the region. It noted that the number of tourists in 2023 approached the figure of 2019, and the 2023 figure was only 3.3% less than the 2019 figure (3,976,777).
Looking at the numbers for 2023, it was reported that the United Kingdom was in the lead with 1,302,125 tourists visiting South Cyprus, followed by Israel with 410,607 tourists.
