Turkish Airlines Expands Network to Include Melbourne, Australia, Starting March 15

Turkish Airlines (THY), the world's leading airline in terms of the number of countries served, is set to commence three weekly flights to Melbourne, Australia, from March 15. With a global reach covering 129 countries and 345 destinations across five continents, THY is now preparing to connect passengers to its 346th destination and introduce the sixth continent to its flight network.

Emphasizing the expansion of its flight network as a cornerstone of its growth strategy, THY is strengthening its position by adding Australia, a destination it has long considered and prioritized, to its flight network.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of THY, expressed his satisfaction with the launch of flights to Melbourne. Bolat stated, "We possess a significant global asset that sets us apart from our competitors: being the airline that flies to the most countries in the world. Maintaining this valuable mission is a powerful motivation that drives us to work even harder and with more dedication. With great excitement, we are adding Melbourne as our 346th destination, marking our presence in the 130th country and the 6th continent, Australia, known for its natural beauty and hospitable people."
Highlighting the significance of the flight for both countries, Bolat said, "As Turkish Airlines, which has proudly connected people, cultures, and continents for over 90 years, we are delighted to bring Australians together with our award-winning service quality and unique flight network."
Bolat added, "In the coming years, we plan to strengthen our presence in this beautiful country by increasing the frequency of our flights and expanding the number of destinations. Additionally, as we bring the Turkish and Australian people closer and strengthen the ties between our countries, we aim to enhance bilateral tourism, trade, and business opportunities."
The flights to Melbourne, THY's 346th destination in 130 countries, will operate three times a week starting from March 15. With Singapore as the layover point, these flights will make Turkish Airlines the sole European airline currently providing services to Melbourne Airport.
For bookings made between January 19 and April 15, passengers can take advantage of special introductory prices, with fares starting at $1199 from Istanbul to Melbourne and AUD 1499 from Melbourne to Istanbul. Supported by the Victoria State and Melbourne Airport, this new route will connect Turkey to one of Victoria's largest business centers, linking the country to Australia's largest Turkish community and fastest-growing state.
Turkish Airlines aims to contribute to Melbourne's access to European, Middle Eastern, Balkan, and African markets, boosting tourism, international education, and business potential. In the next few years, THY plans to enable direct flights to Melbourne and other potential cities in Australia through the purchase of new aircraft that have the capacity for non-stop flights from Istanbul.
