KSTU Investigation to Continue Tomorrow

The trial of Serdal Gündüz and Berk Özbek, who were arrested and sent to prison in connection with the fake diploma investigation at KSTU, will continue tomorrow. They face charges in 98 cases. The initial hearing took place today at Güzelyurt District Court, where Investigating Officer Ortunç Özbaylı presented evidence.

During the hearing, Investigating Officer Özbaylı presented a total of 18 pieces of evidence to the court. The trial for Serdal Gündüz and Berk Özbek will resume tomorrow from where it left off.

Charges Against the Defendants

Serdal Gündüz is charged with "Fraudulent bank payment order," "Money laundering," "Forgery and circulation of counterfeit documents," "Fraud," and "Obtaining money by fraud." Berk Özbek faces charges of "Forgery of official documents," "Obtaining money by fraud," and "Forgery of bank documents." The defendants are accused in a total of 98 cases.

Evidence Presented Today

The hearing, presided over by Judge Gülay Süleymanoğlu Uğur, was attended by Prosecutor Damla Güçlü on behalf of the Prosecutor's Office, as well as the defendants' lawyers Doğa Zeki and Hasan Yücelen.

Investigating Officer Ortunç Özbaylı continued to present the police's evidence to the court, including receipts, invoices, and customer receipts for the $10,000 cash found at Serdal Gündüz's residence in Karaoğlanoğlu, which was subsequently deposited with the Income and Tax Department.

He also submitted screenshots of school accounting records obtained from various individuals, email prints, WhatsApp conversations, and some bank receipts as evidence. Additionally, a laptop used by Berk Özbek and a computer from Serdal Gündüz's residence in Çatalköy were also presented as evidence.

Proceedings Duration

The hearing, which began at 12:00 today, lasted approximately two hours. Judge Gülay Süleymanoğlu Uğur ordered that the trial continue tomorrow from where it left off at Güzelyurt District Court.
