Ioannidis mentioned that they are discussing the refugee issue in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, emphasizing the complexity of the situation. He underscored South Cyprus's clear position of non-acceptance towards refugees in the buffer zone, aiming to prevent it from becoming a transit point for migrants.

"Our objective is to prevent the buffer zone from becoming a transit point for migrants," Ioannidis stated, as reported by the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).

Ioannidis further indicated that the preferred solution would be to send the refugees back to Turkey or to another country. He also noted that arrangements have been made to ensure the migrants' daily needs are met.
