5 People Arrested with Large Quantity of Drugs and 85 Live Ammunition

In Nicosia, five individuals have been arrested under suspicion of possession of narcotics and explosive materials, following the earlier arrests of Musa Eryener, Ahmet Öztemer, and Raif Yıldırımer. Joining them in custody are Fırat Deniz and Reyhan Yeşil Bağlılar, who will remain detained for three days as part of the investigation. The five suspects appeared in court yesterday.

Police officer Ibrahim Atabek from the Narcotics Branch presented the facts in court.

Officer Atabek stated that on June 25, 2024, a vehicle with license plate KE 292, sought in connection with a traffic accident, was found parked in Ortaköy by Gönyeli Police Station. Police reported that suspect driver Musa Eryener was found in possession of 100 milligrams of narcotics.

Police further detailed that during a visit to Eryener’s residence in Nicosia, Ahmet Öztemer threw two packages out of a window upon seeing the narcotics team.

The police officer mentioned that the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended shortly thereafter, and the thrown packages were seized as evidence.

Upon examination of the packages, police confirmed the presence of 5 grams of narcotics. Additionally, during a search of suspect Raif Yıldırımer’s vehicle, police discovered 15 grams of cannabis, 5 grams of synthetic drugs, and 75 live ammunition rounds.

Police also found 10 additional live ammunition rounds at Yıldırımer’s workplace in the Industrial Zone of Nicosia. All three suspects were arrested, and an investigation is underway.

The police officer informed the court that the three suspects had been brought before the court and remanded for 2 days. During this period, it was noted that Fırat Deniz and Reyhan Yeşil Bağlılar brought sandwiches to detainee Ahmet Öztemer in his cell. The sandwiches were inspected at the Central Police Station, revealing the presence of half a gram of synthetic cannabis.

The police officer further stated that Fırat Deniz and Reyhan Yeşil Bağlılar were also arrested, and all suspects were requested to be detained for 3 days.

Assessing the testimony before her, Judge Zehra Yalkut Bilgeç ordered the detention of the suspects for a period of 3 days.
