Speaking at The Economist's 28th Roundtable Summit in Athens, Gül emphasized that the favorable atmosphere could lead to more beneficial outcomes than anticipated.
Gül highlighted the significance of the improving relations between Turkey and Greece and warned against any destructive elements that might undermine this progress. He underscored that the positive climate could greatly contribute to addressing the Cyprus problem based on the realities on the island, aiming for a just and enduring resolution.
“The results of a Cyprus solution will be much more beneficial than we expect,” Gül stated, reflecting his belief in the far-reaching benefits of resolving the issue.
Furthermore, Gül stressed that the warming relations between Turkey and Greece would aid in resolving various contentious issues, ranging from energy supply to regional security and NATO-EU cooperation. “Most importantly, this solution will bring prosperity and wealth to the entire Mediterranean region. We must not overlook this strategic perspective,” he concluded.
