Tatar: Turkey and TRNC Will Remain Indivisible Forever

“Turkey and TRNC will remain indivisible forever,” Tatar declared, paying tribute to the sacrifices made for democracy and independence. He also highlighted the significance of Turkey’s 1974 intervention, which brought peace and freedom to the Turkish Cypriot people.

In his written statement, President Tatar said:

"We commemorate the anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt of 15 July 2016, when the great Turkish Nation demonstrated its determination to uphold democracy and national will to the entire world.

On the night of 15 July, the traitors who targeted the unity and solidarity of the Republic of Turkey were thwarted by the strong will of the Turkish Nation and the sacrifices of the heroic security forces. That night, the Turkish Nation, standing tall against tanks and bullets, defended democracy and freedom, writing a heroic story.

I bow with respect before the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the indivisible unity of the Republic and who are the guarantee of democracy and independence. I also extend my gratitude to our veterans, wishing them a life filled with health and peace.

15 July is also a significant date for the Turkish Cypriot people. It marks the 50th anniversary of the Greek coup in Cyprus. The intervention by the Republic of Turkey on 20 July 1974, aimed at bringing peace to the island, liberated the Turkish Cypriot people, granting them independence and freedom. The Turkish Cypriot people are independent, free, and will continue to exist with their own state. All these give us strength.

Let us not forget that the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will remain eternal with the determination and resolve of our Nation. On the anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt, I once again emphasize our commitment to democracy and national will, sending my greetings and love to every member of the Turkish Nation who we always feel by our side."
