DAÜ-SEN: Public Lands Should Serve Public Interest

In a written statement, DAÜ-SEN highlighted that lands such as the former rectorate building and its surroundings, the EMU Sea Club, and the Cultural Congress Center should be used in accordance with EMU's educational, scientific, sports, and other activity needs. They stressed that any change in ownership, particularly to the state or Evkaf (religious foundation), should not undermine these uses.

The statement expressed serious concern over allegations that these coastal lands might be transferred to non-public interest businesses for casino hotel construction. DAÜ-SEN firmly stated their opposition to such initiatives, calling for immediate public clarification from all parties involved. They asserted that such actions would contradict the fundamental goals of both the state and Evkaf.

DAÜ-SEN insisted that these lands should be evaluated to support water sports, coastal activities, and integrate with the Cultural Congress Center, ensuring they serve the educational and communal needs of EMU and the broader public. They warned against any actions that would detach these properties from their original purposes and hand them over to large capital groups, which they argued would cause significant societal harm.

The statement concluded by urging all relevant parties to prioritize public interest and collaborate effectively to ensure these facilities benefit education, science, sports, the university, and ultimately, the entire community.
