Sea Water Analysis Controversy: They Publish Reports as They Wish and Show Perfect Results

Former President of the Biologists Association, Hasan Sarpten, evaluated the July sea water analysis results, emphasizing that the state publishes reports as it wishes and the public does not trust these reports. He pointed out the confusion caused by a beach with an E. Coli level of 240 being analyzed as 'perfect' just like a beach with a level of 0. Sarpten said, "They publish reports as they wish and show perfect results."

After the sea water analysis results were shared with the public, the inconsistency of a beach with an E. Coli level of 240 also being rated 'perfect,' along with one with an E. Coli level of 0, raised questions.

Hasan Sarpten spoke to Kıbrıs Postası about the issue, stating, "They publish reports as they wish."

"REPORTS ARE NOT OFFICIALLY ACCEPTED"

"None of these reports are signed or stamped, so they are not officially accepted," Sarpten said, noting that the analysis results announced by the Director of the Environmental Department are not even trusted by the public.

Sarpten expressed doubts about the reliability of the water analyses conducted. He pointed out that state laboratories do not accept samples they bring, and private laboratories are not authorized to perform water analyses.

"THEY PUBLISH REPORTS AS THEY WISH AND SHOW PERFECT RESULTS"

Sarpten stated that because of this, only the state conducts measurements and publishes reports showing perfect results. He questioned how one beach could have an E. Coli level of 400, while a neighboring beach could have a level of zero, yet both are labeled 'perfect.'

"I DON'T THINK SAMPLES ARE TAKEN FROM MOST BEACHES"

"Even in chlorinated pool water, the result wouldn't be zero," Sarpten said, adding that they believe samples aren't taken from most beaches. "We think these processes are done at a computer," he claimed.

Highlighting that people cannot swim in the sea because the sea water smells like sewage, Sarpten mentioned that they continuously receive photos of sewage emptying into the sea.

"UNSIGNED, UNSTAMPED FABRICATED ANALYSES ARE UNACCEPTABLE"

Sarpten stressed that unsigned and unstamped fabricated analyses are unacceptable.

"PRIVATE LABORATORIES SHOULD ALSO BE AUTHORIZED"

Sarpten called for private laboratories to be authorized, allowing for comparative analyses to reveal the true situation.
