The optimism stems from data released by Russian travel company, Russian Express, which has been picked up by several tourism-focused news websites.

Based on their bookings, the company forecasts over 5,000 Russian citizens vacationing in Cyprus through their arrangements alone.

Russian Express General Director, Anna Filatovskaya, spoke to rata news, highlighting their current operation of two weekly flights to Cyprus. She expressed confidence in a sustained tourist flow, stating: “Bookings are being made for the entire summer season, with a significant number already received for September and October.”

Filatovskaya pointed to a noticeable rise in interest from Russian vacationers compared to 2023. Notably, this marks the second year Russian Express has partnered with Jazeera Airways to facilitate travel to Cyprus.

“We’re looking forward to a successful summer season, sending roughly five thousand tourists to Cyprus – exceeding last summer’s numbers,” Filatovskaya said in the interview. “Many will be repeat clients, a key indicator of the trust Russians have in our Cyprus flight programme.” She further emphasised the ease of obtaining visas for Russians travelling to Cyprus.

Cyprus received 65,000 Russian tourists in 2023, and according to reports, roughly 20,000 Russians have visited the island as of June 2024.
