Aliyev: We Will Always Stand by Our Turkish Cypriot Brothers
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the participation of TRNC President Ersin Tatar in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is an important step towards the recognition of the TRNC. He stated, "We will always stand by our Cypriot brothers."
President Aliyev made these remarks during the opening of the Global Media Forum titled "Uncovering False News: Combating Disinformation" held in Shusha, where he answered questions from the participants.
Aliyev conveyed his congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
Referring to President Tatar's engagements in Azerbaijan and his participation in the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Shusha, Aliyev said, "I specifically invited Tatar. The TRNC is an observer member of the OTS, but for the first time, it participated in the summit under its own flag. We have fulfilled our brotherly duty. Tatar's participation in the summit is an important step towards the recognition of the TRNC. We will always stand by our Cypriot brothers."
Addressing the future of the OTS, Aliyev added, "I am confident that the OTS has a great future. We must collectively transform the OTS into a power center globally. We will achieve this through joint efforts."
