Çavuşoğlu emphasized that this decision is crucial for paving the way for successful students in higher education.

According to a statement from the Ministry, Çavuşoğlu noted that TRNC students with A-Level results who are enrolled in Turkish universities, according to the Higher Education Council’s “Principles for Accepting Foreign Students,” have been paying high tuition fees.

“Our Efforts and Contacts Have Yielded Positive Results”

Çavuşoğlu stated that both students and their families faced difficulties in paying these fees. He added, “Extended efforts and our contacts have resulted in a positive outcome, with the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey deciding that ‘all our students will be subject to the same rules as Turkish citizens regarding contribution fees and tuition fees.’”

He mentioned that this decision was announced by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his speech at the July 20 ceremonies. Çavuşoğlu quoted Erdoğan’s speech: “We stand by the Turkish Cypriot people in every field and support them. I have good news for the youth. As of July, we have decided that all TRNC students will be subject to the same rules as Turkish citizens regarding contribution fees and tuition fees. As Turkey, we will continue to share our bread, water, and future with our Cypriot brothers.”

Çavuşoğlu expressed gratitude to President Erdoğan for his continuous support of the Turkish Cypriot community and for signing such an important decision. He also thanked Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin, Higher Education Council President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia, Metin Feyzioğlu.
