Özel: Previous Election Interventions Embarrassed Us All

Visiting the Denktaş Foundation as part of his meetings in the TRNC for the 50th anniversary of the Peace Operation, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, along with his delegation, emphasized their support for the democracy of the TRNC, stating, “We want the elections here to be free and democratic. The interventions in the previous elections embarrassed us all.”

Özel continued, “We embrace this place as a whole and will establish relationships with all parties here.” He highlighted the significance of both the government and the opposition from Turkey being present in the TRNC for the 50th anniversary of the Peace Operation, saying, “We also contributed and supported this, and we raised the importance of all opposition parties participating and being present here.” Denktaş noted that this unity is very meaningful for the TRNC and that it should continue beyond ceremonial events.
