Widespread Operation in Turkey: Fake TRNC Licenses Busted
In a coordinated effort by the gendarmerie, a large-scale operation was conducted across eight provinces in Turkey, targeting individuals producing and distributing fake TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) and Georgian driver's licenses. Four suspects have been detained.
According to reports by İHA, the operation was carried out under the supervision of the Samsun Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The operation was led by the Samsun Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch Directorate, Gendarmerie Intelligence Branch Directorate, and İlkadım District Gendarmerie Command teams, following intelligence that revealed the production and sale of fake driver's licenses from the TRNC and Georgia.
The gendarmerie teams conducted raids in Samsun, Istanbul, Ordu, Kocaeli, Edirne, Tekirdağ, Kütahya, and Manisa, resulting in the apprehension of suspects B.E., C.T., C.Ç., and M.Ç.
During the operation, fake TRNC and Georgian licenses were found in possession of 60 individuals. The four detainees were taken to the gendarmerie for questioning before being transferred to the courthouse.
