Christodoulides: Efforts Continue to Restart Negotiations Under Greek Cypriot Initiative
Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Christodoulides, in a meeting with the Greek Cypriot diplomatic mission chiefs abroad, stated that efforts are ongoing to restart negotiations under the Greek Cypriot initiative.
According to reports, Christodoulides met with the diplomatic mission chiefs at the Presidential Palace yesterday to discuss developments in the Cyprus issue and other related policies of the Greek Cypriot side.
Alithia newspaper reported that Christodoulides informed his counterparts about the current state of the Cyprus problem and the policies being pursued by the Greek Cypriot side. During his address, Christodoulides mentioned that efforts are being made to restart negotiations through the initiative of the Greek Cypriot side.
He hinted that some developments regarding the Cyprus issue might occur soon, likely in late August or early September, and emphasized that they are fully prepared for these developments.
In his statement, Christodoulides also touched upon the Greek Cypriot side's upcoming presidency of the EU Council in 2026, noting that preparations have already begun. He further mentioned that they will also assume the presidency of MED9 and that various meetings of ministers and heads of state will be held in Southern Cyprus during this period.
Additionally, Christodoulides highlighted the ongoing humanitarian corridor initiative for Gaza, calling it a very important issue.
