Cafer Gürcafer to Remain in Custody for Three More Days

Cafer Gürcafer, the Chairman of the Cyprus Turkish Building Contractors Association (KTİMB), and Mustafa Tutar have been ordered to remain in custody for an additional three days as part of an ongoing investigation by the Financial Crimes Unit. The charges against them include "Obtaining by Deception," "Forgery of Documents," "Incitement to Forge Documents," and "Circulating Forged Documents."

Police officer Yahya Suiçmez presented the case details in court, explaining that Mustafa Tutar was detained after his involvement in the case was discovered. Gürcafer is accused of taking 135,800 Euros from a business intermediary between 2022 and 2023 to expedite the process of bringing foreign workers to the country. It is also alleged that he canceled a quota for 55 workers from a construction firm by submitting forged documents to the Ministry of Labor.

The police have obtained statements from 30 individuals as part of the investigation and have stated that new developments were uncovered yesterday, with further inquiries ongoing.

The defendants' lawyer mentioned that investigations concerning the complainant are also underway.

Cafer Gürcafer and Mustafa Tutar will remain in custody for three more days during the investigation.
