Out of 47 imported products, 46 were found to be compliant, while 19 out of 23 local products were clean. However, excess pesticide residues were detected in imported cherry tomatoes, and unauthorized pesticides were found in local prickly pears and dates.

The department announced that the cherry tomatoes belonging to SVS Tic. Ltd. have been destroyed. Local prickly pears and dates found with unauthorized pesticides are also set for destruction.

The prickly pears slated for destruction belong to Lisani Dal of Nicosia and Salih Dürüst of Türkmenköy, while the dates belong to Mahmut Takali of Yayla village.

The harvest of prickly pears owned by Timuçin Serdarlılı from Serdarlı village, which were found to have excessive pesticide residues, has been halted pending the next laboratory analysis.
