Three Traffic Accidents, Two Drivers Arrested

In the past 24 hours, three traffic accidents occurred—two near Famagusta and one in Kyrenia. As a result, one driver was arrested for refusing to provide a breath sample for an alcohol test, and another was detained for driving under the influence.

According to police reports, O. G. (27) lost control of his vehicle, collided with curb stones, and fled the scene. He was later apprehended but refused to provide a sufficient breath sample for an alcohol test, leading to his arrest. The accident occurred around 4:30 PM on the road between Mutluyaka and the Famagusta-Nicosia Highway.

In another incident, H. A. (18) failed to yield the right of way when entering the Famagusta-Nicosia Highway from Mutluyaka Village and collided with a vehicle driven by B. A. (22). Both H. A. and passenger S. A. (44), who suffered a back fracture, were treated at Famagusta State Hospital and discharged. This accident happened around 6:00 PM.

On Alsancak Karaoğlanoğlu Avenue, K. G. (41), driving under the influence of 236 milligrams of alcohol, rear-ended another vehicle. The collision, which occurred at 12:20 AM, resulted in no injuries, but Geben was arrested.

Investigations into the accidents are ongoing.
