According to Haravgi newspaper, Siddiq emphasized in a statement yesterday that the UN cannot engage in illegal actions concerning the asylum seekers in the buffer zone. He stated, "The Republic of Cyprus must implement asylum law."

Siddiq warned that the current situation could further complicate relations between the Greek Cypriot administration and the UN, stressing that "illegal actions will not be accepted, nor will they participate in such activities."

The newspaper also recalled a previous statement by the Greek Cypriot Immigration Undersecretary, who claimed that the government's practices are within the legal framework of asylum law.
