Soyer Comments on Christodoulides: Disclosing to Sabotage Good Faith Efforts

Speaking to Kıbrıs Postası, Soyer criticized Christodoulides for allegedly undermining good faith efforts and suggested that the recent disclosure was an attempt to sabotage the process.

Soyer remarked that the situation involved a "trial run" before the September summit, leading to a strategic trap. He stated, “Secretary-General Guterres made an informal offer for August as a trial. Christodoulides has disclosed this to thwart the process and eliminate criticisms. It is an attempt to undermine the Secretary-General's good faith efforts. This is the explanation for why Ersin Tatar has fallen into this trap.”

He further criticized the approach, noting that if a foreign minister publicly disparages a representative's knowledge of the Cyprus issue, it undermines the nation's diplomatic credibility. Soyer emphasized that such conduct is unacceptable in diplomacy.
