July Cost of Living Announced: Annual Inflation at 72.51%

The cost of living figures for July have been released. According to information compiled by Kıbrıs Postası from the Statistics Department, the cost of living in July increased by 3.51%, while the annual cost of living rose to 72.51%.

The data indicates that the cost of living for the period from January to July was 37.65%. Additionally, the quarterly increase in the cost of living was reported at 14.67%.

Highest Increase in Communication Sector

The cost of living increased by 3.51% compared to the previous month, 37.65% compared to December of the previous year, and 72.51% compared to the same month last year.

Among the main expenditure groups, the highest increase compared to the previous month was recorded in the Communication sector, with a rise of 15.11%.

Other notable increases were seen in the following sectors:

  • Various Goods and Services: 7.12%
  • Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco: 6.04%
  • Restaurants and Hotels: 5.34%
  • Recreation and Culture: 5.05%
  • Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages: 3.39%
  • Health: 2.83%
  • Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas, and Other Fuels: 2.83%
  • Furniture, Household Appliances, and Maintenance Services: 2.71%
  • Transport: 1.71%
  • Education: 0.37%
  • Clothing and Footwear: 0.31%

Out of the 503 items included in the index, average prices increased for most, while 67 items saw a decrease in average prices.

The top three items with the highest price increases were:

  • Magazines and Periodicals: 163.64%
  • Parsley: 93.97%
  • Red Cabbage: 91.61%
