Turkey have reached women's volleyball semifinals by beating China 3-2 on Tuesday at 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Crescent Stars have eliminated China with 23-25, 25-21, 26-24, 21-25 and 15-12 sets in the quarterfinal clash.

Melissa Teresa Vargas rallied Türkiye to victory with 42 points.

Yingynig Li was the top scorer for China with 25 points.

Turkey will face on Thursday the winners of other quarterfinal clash of Tuesday, between Italy and Serbia.

Magnicifent display by Turkey

The team competed against China at the South Paris Arena. China started strong, taking an early lead with consecutive points, ultimately winning the first set 25-23 despite Turkey closing the gap towards the end.

In the second set, Turkey, led by the impressive performances of Gizem Örge and Melissa Vargas, established a 14-8 lead midway through. Despite China's efforts in blocking, Turkey claimed the set 21-25, leveling the match at 1-1.

Both teams exchanged points at the start of the third set, but Turkey emerged victorious with a 24-26 win, gaining a 2-1 advantage in the match.

China began the fourth set more focused, leading 11-3. Despite Derya Cebecioğlu's consecutive points for Turkey, which narrowed the gap to 19-15, service errors led to a 25-21 victory for China, tying the match at 2-2.

The final set saw the Sultans of the Net clinch a 12-15 victory, winning the match 3-2 and advancing to the semi-finals.

The Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team will compete in the semi-finals against the winner of the Italy-Serbia matchup on Thursday, August 8.
