Public Works and Transport Minister Erhan Arıklı made a significant statement regarding the privatization of the Kyrenia and Famagusta Ports, highlighting that the process has commenced. Arıklı emphasized that the privatization of the Kyrenia Port has reached its final stage and mentioned plans to launch the privatization tender this month.

Speaking on the "Taşlar Dökülürken" program on Kıbrıs TV, Minister Arıklı underscored the necessity of transforming Kyrenia Port into a tourism hub. He also noted that Famagusta Port has a lifespan of 2-3 years and that serious measures need to be taken.

Minister Arıklı stated the importance of implementing public-private partnerships for ports, as is done worldwide. He remarked, "If the Annan Plan had been implemented, would we have been able to say, 'This belongs to the state, and we won't let it be touched'? Of course, we couldn't."
