Ahmet Tuğcu: The location of the action should be AKSA Kalecik
EL-SEN President Ahmet Tuğcu has highlighted the environmental damage caused by power plants generating electricity on the island. He stated that the protest should be directed at AKSA Kalecik, where the impact is most significant.
Ahmet Tuğcu, President of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority Employees Union (EL-SEN), has shared photos illustrating the environmental damage and air pollution caused by power plants operating on the island. He expressed concern over the harm caused by the Teknecik power plants and suggested that the protest and press conference should be held at AKSA Kalecik.
Tuğcu's statement is as follows:
"The image below shows the environmental damage and air pollution caused by power plants operating on the island of Cyprus. Recently, the environmental harm caused by the Teknecik power plants has also been distressing to us. However, I believe that the protest and press conference location should be the AKSA Kalecik power plant, not Teknecik. Despite having a filtered stack, AKSA does not operate it due to high costs and instead uses smaller, separate stacks to intentionally disperse smoke, thereby reducing visibility. Therefore, the correct address should be AKSA Kalecik Power Plant, which has been exploiting our country financially and polluting our air for years."
