"I am watching with concern as the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA) continues to take irresponsible steps that have the potential to make Cyprus a target. It is noteworthy how Christodoulides, in an attempt to enhance his personal political reputation and with the illusion of being a regional actor, is striving to be an accomplice to Israel's ongoing crimes against humanity right next to us for almost a year now," said Tatar, adding that he condemns the unacceptable policies pursued by the Greek Cypriot leadership.

Repeated Warnings to the Greek Administration

Tatar recalled that he had repeatedly warned the Greek leader to avoid actions that risk the security of the entire island for political purposes. This same warning was also issued by officials from the Republic of Turkey, who have been making every diplomatic effort to ensure a permanent ceasefire, to parties engaging in actions that would escalate tensions with the GCA.

South Cyprus as a Hub for Countries Involved in Crimes Against Humanity

President Tatar stressed that developments in the Middle East, closely monitored with security units and relevant institutions, have brought the region to a boiling point due to the recent escalations by Israel, including political assassinations. He emphasized the need for Cyprus, one of the regions closest to the center of violence, to maintain neutrality to prevent anxiety among the island's inhabitants. "Unfortunately, the Greek Cypriot leadership has chosen the opposite by increasing its armament activities and siding with Israel in its actions, as demonstrated by last week's military exercise," he said.

Discontent Among Greek Cypriots Over Leadership Steps

The latest incident, involving a U.S. aircraft carrier docking in Limassol, has not only drawn criticism from the Turkish side but also from Greek Cypriots, Tatar noted. "In recent public opinion polls, the Greek Cypriot public overwhelmingly expressed dissatisfaction with the Greek leader's irresponsible actions and stated that they do not approve of making the island a target," he added.

Jurisdiction of the Greek Administration Limited to South Cyprus

Tatar reiterated that the Greek Cypriot leadership has no authority to take steps or make decisions on issues that affect the entire island. The jurisdiction of the GCA is limited to South Cyprus as determined by the Peace Operation 50 years ago. "I would like to remind the relevant states that engagements with the Greek side are not valid for the entire island and will never be. The authority and sovereignty of the Greek administration are only valid in South Cyprus and cannot extend even one centimeter into the TRNC," he stated.

Humanity Must Unite Against Oppression

President Tatar concluded his remarks by calling for international unity against oppression. "As a president of a nation that has experienced massacres and genocide attempts in the past, I urge humanity to unite against this oppression. Supporting efforts towards a permanent ceasefire instead of violence will be one of the most significant contributions to humanity in stopping bloodshed and tears," he emphasized.
