Taçoy submitted his petition to the UBP Headquarters today, requesting that the party's decision-making bodies convene to address the issue.

Taçoy urged the party leadership not to let UBP get entangled in legal disputes and emphasized the importance of adhering to the party's regulations and laws. He submitted his objection to UBP Administrative Officer Hasan Yağız, accompanied by his lawyer, Şefik Aşçıoğulları.

In a statement to the press, Taçoy highlighted the ongoing congress process since July 22nd and criticized the lack of adherence to established rules and procedures. He expressed concern over the harm caused to UBP by not following these guidelines, stating that his primary intention is to protect the rights of UBP members.

Taçoy also mentioned that multiple legal challenges have arisen from the district congresses held since July 22nd, resulting in interim orders. He pointed out that UBP members must have at least 180 days of membership to be eligible to vote, emphasizing the importance of adhering to this requirement.

Referring to Article 6, Clause 7 of the party's bylaws, Taçoy stated that the list of UBP delegates eligible to vote should be determined based on a date 180 days prior to the first congress meeting on July 22nd. He explained that they had obtained the necessary lists in consultation with the High Electoral Board and submitted them to the Administrative Officer, requesting that the congress be conducted according to these lists.

Taçoy reiterated the need to apply the 180-day membership rule mandated by the bylaws and emphasized that they did not intend to initiate legal proceedings unnecessarily. He called on the party's decision-making bodies to convene and find a solution, ensuring that the member list is made available to everyone and avoiding discrepancies in district lists.

UBP General President and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel was urged by Taçoy to address the matter promptly and ensure transparency in the member lists, especially with the upcoming youth and women's branch district elections, as well as the congress in a month's time.

Taçoy concluded by stressing that UBP should not be embroiled in legal corridors and that the party should act in accordance with its bylaws and laws. He also addressed questions from the press, clarifying that he had not had direct discussions with Ünal Üstel but had explained the situation to the relevant board members. Taçoy mentioned that a recent decision by the Central Executive Board was deemed incorrect by the courts.

According to Taçoy, their consultations with the High Electoral Board determined that only members who joined the party before January 23, 2024, would be eligible to vote, excluding those who joined afterward. He emphasized that all 19,000 party members have the right to run for candidacy, affirming his belief in democracy and encouraging anyone interested in taking on roles within the party to complete the necessary legal processes.

When asked about consulting with Ahmet Karavelioğlu, Taçoy confirmed that they had been in consultation. He mentioned that Karavelioğlu had previously lodged similar objections with the High Electoral Board and Party Headquarters, hoping for a fair evaluation of both their objections and decisions from the party's mechanisms.
