The Ministry's social media account stated, “We extend our thanks to Turkey, France, Moldova, Romania, Malta, Italy, Serbia, Southern Cyprus, Poland, the Czech Republic, and the European Union (EU) for their assistance in fighting the fires in Greece.”

Turkey's contribution includes sending two firefighting planes and one helicopter, which arrived today at Tatoi Military Airport after departing from Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport. Turkish teams will conduct firefighting operations from this location.

The fire, which started on August 11 in the Varnava area near Athens and spread rapidly due to strong winds, has resulted in at least one fatality. The blaze, deemed the largest of the year, has led to the evacuation of three hospitals, two monasteries, and numerous residential areas. Over 100,000 acres have been reported burned so far.
