Sefer Buğra Altundağ, a 21-year-old suspect in the case involving the death of Helin on January 25, 2023, was brought before the court once again.

During the trial, police officers testified that on the night of the incident, Zehie Helin Reessur was on the phone with her boyfriend when she reported being struck by Sefer Buğra Altundağ. When her boyfriend was unable to reach her afterward, he went to the police and filed a complaint. The police, upon visiting the victim's home following the complaint, found no one there.

Attempt to Destroy Evidence by Burning Clothes

The police further testified that at 7:15 AM, a black LM 560 license plate vehicle was found abandoned with its engine running near the Derinya Border Crossing in Mağusa. Bloodstains were discovered on the seats, and some clothing items inside the vehicle appeared to have been burned in an attempt to destroy evidence.

The police also mentioned that upon learning about a girl's body being found in İskele, they suspected a connection to the ongoing case and reported it to Inspector Deputy Erdim Kara.

The police provided evidence from security cameras at the entrance and exit of the apartment where the murder took place and from the entrance area of the hotel construction site where the crime occurred. The suspect was seen entering the area with his vehicle at 01:59 and leaving at 02:12.

The police stated that the suspect was located in Southern Cyprus on the same day and was handed over to them by United Nations (UN) officials at 19:10.

After a break during the hearing, the court examined the evidence vehicle at the İskele Police Department, and the case was postponed to August 15 for further proceedings.
