The Ministry's official statement recalled that the Turkish Armed Forces launched the Peace Operation on July 20, 1974, to end the inhumane massacres against the Turkish Cypriots. It highlighted the heroic struggle of Turkish soldiers (Mehmetçik) against the Greek Cypriot terrorist organization EOKA.

The Ministry pointed out that following the intransigent stance of the Greek and Greek Cypriot sides during the 1st and 2nd Geneva Conferences on July 25 and August 13, 1974, respectively, the Turkish Armed Forces resumed the operation under the code "Ayşe Goes on Vacation."

"THE SECOND PEACE OPERATION BEGAN ON AUGUST 14, 1974"

The statement emphasized that on August 14, 1974, the 4th Victory Operation Plan was implemented, marking the beginning of the second phase of the Peace Operation. The Ministry expressed its respect and remembrance for the Turkish Cypriots who were brutally massacred, as well as the martyrs and veterans who have passed away. The message also extended wishes for health, happiness, and long life to the living veterans.
