Man Sent to Prison for Assaulting Girlfriend
Emil Birger Fredrik Torstensson, a Swedish national, has been sent to prison after assaulting his girlfriend, accusing her of infidelity with other men. The incident took place in Bahçeli, and Torstensson was arrested for serious assault.
The police officer, Boran Özgen, from the Kyrenia Crime Branch, presented the case in the Kyrenia District Court. The officer stated that on August 14, 2024, at around 7:00 PM, Emil Birger Fredrik Torstensson, who resides in Pine Bay View site in Bahçeli, seriously assaulted his girlfriend, A.K.S., by punching her multiple times on her body and head, claiming she had been unfaithful to him with other men.
The police also noted that Torstensson was arrested the same day following a complaint. Given that the investigation's part where the suspect could interfere has been completed, and considering that the suspect is a Swedish citizen with no permanent ties to the country, the police requested that he be held in custody pending trial.
Senior Judge Hazal Hacımulla, after reviewing the testimony, ordered that the suspect be held in prison for a period not exceeding 10 days.
