Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu: Our Party Successfully Passed an Important Test

Hasipoğlu discussed the progress of the Ulusal Birlik Partisi (UBP) during its congress process, which began in July, in an interview with BRT.

Hasipoğlu highlighted that the UBP's stance and actions in foreign policy have garnered significant attention and attracted many women and youth to the party. He noted that there was substantial interest in the party branches' elections, which he deemed crucial for the country’s democracy and the vital role of political parties.

He further asserted that the UBP has undergone a process that sets an example for the country, and this interest and process would positively reflect on the nation's democratic practices. Hasipoğlu outlined the party's core principles as believing in and sustaining the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), safeguarding sovereignty and independence, adhering to the social state concept, enhancing public welfare, and collaborating with Turkey to serve the country.

Hasipoğlu also emphasized that elevating public welfare and the country's economic status are among the party's top priorities. He mentioned that the party strives to make the voice of the Turkish Cypriots heard in international parliaments regarding demands for equal sovereignty and international status.

The General Secretary stated that UBP members have shown a commitment to stability and affirmed that the party has always provided the best service to the public. He expressed confidence in the positive impact of elections, stating, “We are not afraid of elections; they are good. Participation is good. It is a beautiful feeling for people to cast their votes and for the elected representatives to manage them, which is a requirement of democracy.” He hopes that the same harmony, happiness, and democratic understanding will prevail on September 21.

Hasipoğlu pointed out that the UBP, with its grassroots, organizations, and experienced leadership, is a party that has embraced democracy. He assured that the party would embrace and respect the results of the September 21 elections, regardless of the outcome.

He concluded by reiterating that the district elections were conducted in a democratic manner and expressed hope that this success would be crowned on September 21.
