Ziazikov described the situation as both sensitive and complex, highlighting its critical importance for the security and stability of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Ziazikov stressed Russia's support for a solution that considers the legitimate concerns and interests of both communities on the island, in line with UN Security Council resolutions and established international law.

During the interview, Ziazikov also discussed the activities of the Russian Consulate in Northern Cyprus, noting that its opening last August marked a significant milestone in providing services to the Russian community in the north. He pointed out that over 50,000 Russian citizens reside in Northern Cyprus, and the consulate recently served its 10,000th visitor.

Regarding the European Union's sanctions against Russia, Ziazikov acknowledged the negative impact these measures have had on the economic relations between Southern Cyprus and Russia, noting that many in Southern Cyprus, including the public and diplomats, have expressed concern over the damage caused by the sanctions.
