Ambassador Serim: Committed to Leading the Turkish Cypriot People Toward Brighter Days

During the meeting, Töre extended his best wishes to Ambassador Serim for his new role, emphasizing their intention to work closely together. Töre highlighted the importance of the Guarantee and Alliance Agreements and stressed the need for Turkey to strengthen its influence in the region. He also noted the significance of Turkey's efforts to bolster the socio-economic structure of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and expressed his belief that these efforts would continue to grow under Ambassador Serim's tenure.

Töre referred to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s recent call at the 78th United Nations General Assembly for the recognition of the TRNC as a pivotal moment, describing it as a historic turning point for the Turkish Cypriot community. He also reiterated Erdoğan's famous statement, "The world is bigger than five," noting its growing relevance.

In his remarks, Ambassador Serim, the 16th ambassador to serve in the TRNC, expressed his commitment to working diligently for the well-being of both the Turkish Cypriot people and Turkish citizens residing in the region. He affirmed that the Turkish Cypriot community lives safely under their flag and government, with Turkey’s unwavering support.

Ambassador Serim also praised the maturity of the democratic life in the TRNC, noting that it surpasses that of many other countries. He expressed his satisfaction with the effective legislative work carried out under Speaker Töre’s leadership.

Following their discussions, Speaker Töre presented a gift to Ambassador Serim as a token of their meeting.
