Taçoy: "The Spirit of 'Nation, Homeland, State' Has Vanished from UBP, and I Am Unhappy"

Speaking on Cyprus Post TV's "Objectif" program, Taçoy, who has served in various roles within the UBP since his youth, reflected on his commitment to the party, even at the expense of time with his family. "My children have sometimes complained, saying, 'You spend more time with the UBP than with us,'" he shared.

"I Am Unhappy with Injustice and Corruption"

Taçoy emphasized that he is not intimidated by any rhetoric, stating, "People ask why I am running for leadership. I am not happy. I am unhappy with injustice and corruption." He stressed that much more needs to be done within the UBP, reiterating, "UBP is the nation, the homeland, the state. It is not just a party; it was founded with that spirit, but that spirit is now gone. My struggle is about nothing else."

"Disorder Has Never Benefited Any State, and It Won't Benefit Us"

Acknowledging the potential for loss in the upcoming election, Taçoy reminded that "in an election, there is always a winner and a loser." He urged voters to choose wisely, saying, "If you are happy with the situation, you will choose it; if you are unhappy, you will change it." He warned that disorder has never benefited any state, and it won't benefit the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) either.

Taçoy also pointed out that he has never engaged in below-the-belt tactics in his 60 years of life, and he expressed concern about the UBP's current situation, stating that he perceives the party to be in a bad state if elections were held today.
