The court ruled that Dinç will stand trial without detention, under specific bail conditions. Another suspect, Fatih Şimşek, was released after investigations revealed no connection to the alleged crimes.

Incident Details

According to testimony provided by police officer Ali Aydoğanlı from the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department, on August 13, 2024, the victim, identified as A.Ö., was allegedly lured to a workplace in Hamitköy by Cesur Dinç and five accomplices over a financial dispute. During the encounter, the group reportedly assaulted A.Ö., causing serious injuries, and forcibly took the keys to his vehicle, a car with license plate LZ 157.

The suspects are accused of preventing A.Ö. from leaving the premises and forcibly moving him to the rear section of the building, used as an auto body and paint shop, where they continued to detain him against his will. The group allegedly threatened the victim by saying, "If you're a man, go tell someone that your car is here." A.Ö. was then reportedly driven to a bus stop near the Alpet Petrol station in the Dörtyol area and released.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The victim filed a complaint on August 16, 2024, leading to the arrest of Cesur Dinç. The other five suspects involved in the incident remain at large, and police efforts to locate them are ongoing. Dinç was previously brought before the court on August 17 and 20, where a total of six days of detention were ordered to facilitate the investigation. During this time, authorities reviewed multiple surveillance camera recordings and gathered evidence linking Dinç to the alleged crimes.

Regarding Fatih Şimşek, who was also detained in connection with the case, the police confirmed that after a thorough investigation and an official statement taken the previous day, no evidence was found linking him to the alleged offenses, leading to his release.

Bail Conditions

After evaluating the presented evidence and testimonies, Judge Nuray Necdet ruled that Cesur Dinç could await trial without detention under the following conditions:

  • A cash bail of 20,000 Turkish Lira.
  • Two reliable TRNC citizens to sign bail bonds worth 400,000 Turkish Lira each.
  • A travel ban preventing him from leaving the country until the conclusion of the trial.
  • A requirement to report to the nearest police station once a week.

Ongoing Investigation

The search continues for the remaining five suspects implicated in the incident. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding their whereabouts to come forward to assist in the investigation.
