In a written statement, Maviş highlighted that the Turkish Cypriot community is being pushed into an increasingly difficult situation under pressure from the AKP and the Republic of Cyprus authorities. He stressed that issues related to property and land should be resolved under the framework of the Technical Committees (TCs) and that these committees should become active in areas such as tourism, healthcare, crossing points, and education within a rational political framework.

Maviş noted that time is working against the Turkish Cypriots, with adverse effects from European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decisions and unilateral legislative changes made by the southern part of the island. He pointed out that the Greek Cypriot political elite, through the Annan Plan and the Crans Montana talks, has disappointed Turkish Cypriots, while Turkey's activities in the north and the Greek Cypriot elites’ maintenance of the status quo have harmed the rights of Turkish Cypriots.

Maviş emphasized the need for technical committees to work on increasing trust between the two communities and stressed the importance of establishing alternative negotiation tables under the UN framework. He concluded by stating that the most rational way to mitigate the damages caused by the Cyprus issue is to enhance the work of technical committees and for negotiation teams to focus on result-oriented efforts.
