Bar Association Intervenes to Prevent Abubakar Uthman’s Deportation

The Human Rights Committee of the Bar Association has stepped in to prevent the deportation of Abubakar Uthman, who has been residing in the country without a permit for 16 years and was recently arrested and brought before the court. The committee is expected to appoint a lawyer to represent Uthman.

Abubakar Uthman, a well-known figure in Nicosia, was arrested and taken to court yesterday for living in the country without a residence permit. In court, the police stated that Uthman had been living without permission for 16 years and had been surviving on the help of strangers.

Bar Association Takes Action

According to information obtained by Cyprus Mirror, despite the usual procedure of deporting individuals without a residence permit, the Human Rights Committee of the Bar Association has intervened to prevent Uthman’s deportation. The committee intends to provide Uthman with legal support by assigning him a lawyer.
