Şenkul: "Tourism Isn't Just About Playing Music at the Ancient Harbor"

In his remarks on measures taken to protect tourism, Şenkul stressed that turning a blind eye to drivers under the influence of alcohol not only endangers public safety but also threatens the tourism sector.

He pointed out that while penalties for drunk driving are enforced, they typically target local drivers rather than tourists. Şenkul clarified, "Wanting good tourism and allowing drunk driving are two very different things. Ignoring drunk drivers threatens both public health and tourism. We've lost too many lives due to alcohol; everyone must be accountable for their words and actions."

Initiatives to Protect Kyrenia's Attractions

Highlighting the efforts made by Kyrenia Municipality to preserve the ancient harbor and Kordonboyu, Şenkul listed several key services provided by the municipality:

• Door-to-door garbage collection,
• 24-hour cleaning services,
• 24-hour security services,
• Regular oil extraction to prevent odors,
• Lighting and renovations behind the castle,
• Renovations of back streets,
• Renewal of Kordonboyu.

These efforts, according to Şenkul, have revitalized Kordonboyu and the Ancient Harbor, turning them into major attractions once again. He emphasized the importance of adhering to regulations to maintain these improvements, stating, "We won’t allow a few individuals to undermine these efforts. Everyone must remember that the rules are enforced for the betterment of the area."

Şenkul also warned that those who do not follow the rules will face consequences.
